Liminal Woods
A downloadable game
Liminal Woods is a randomly generated forestcrawl for use with Cairn 2e - though it can easily be added to any OSR-inspired system.
Adventurers find themselves inside a forest that has no border, and no amount of travel returns them to the civilisation they came from. Paths travel back upon themselves; backtracking leads to new places rather than old ones; time/space does not seem to operate under normal conditions here. What's more, the methods by which a person enters these Woods are terrifying innocuous and unreliable.
Welcome, to LIMINAL WOODS!
In order to keep this module under the 12 page maximum, it will be assumed that the reader has a copy of Warden's Guide for Cairn 2e, or some similar bestiary at hand. The original vision for this module had a lot of ideas for it, but I opted to release only the tables for random generation rather than develop the narrative I had in mind for this place. That, I believe, can arrive naturally as the table plays through it.
DISCLAIMER: this module, as of right now, is not playtested fully. It was developed during work breaks over the course of 3 weeks to create for this Jam. As I get opportunities to run this for players I can tweak/update ideas to work better, but if you happen to run this, please provide me with feedback on what works well and what doesn't. Thank you!
HAVE FUN!
